This article explains how to install the Grassfish Android Player on an iiyama LHXX64UHS-B1AG device.

System requirements

Before you begin the installation, ensure that you meet the following system requirements:

Keyboard shortcuts

We recommend to use a Logitech K400 keyboard. If you do so, note the following keyboard shortcuts before you start the installation:

• To go home, use the Home key or F2.

• To go back, right-click with your mouse or press F1.

• To navigate, use the arrow keys.

• To open, press Enter.

Notes

On iiyama devices, the arrow keys make it easier to navigate through the Android menus (similar to IR control).

Prepare the iiyama device

After the initial startup or a factory reset, configure the following settings.

1. Under Language, select your language.

2. Click the arrow on the right side to continue.

3. Under Network, click WLAN to set up WiFi if needed.

4. Click the arrow on the right to continue.
   

5. Under Clone, click the arrow on the right to continue.

6. Under Power saving, set Auto power to off.

7. Click the arrow on the right to continue.
   

8. Under Signage, change the Signage display name if needed.
   

9. Click the arrow on the right to continue.

Adjust system settings

Perform the following steps to adjust the iiyama device system settings:

1. On the home screen, use the arrows to navigate to System Settings > System > Android setting.
    

2. Click on About Device.

3. Find the build number.

4. To unlock developer options, click on the build number multiple times until You are now a developer! appears.
   

5. Compare the build number to the minimum firmware version. It must be equal or newer. If not, update the firmware.

6. Use the back key to navigate back to Settings.

7. Click on System > Date & Time.

8. Select Date & Time and set your timezone

9. To exit Settings, click the arrow at the top left.

10. Under System, click Developer options.
    

11. Under Developer options, turn on USB debugging. If it is switched on, switch it off and on again.

12. In the Allow USB debugging? dialog, click OK.
    

13. If you want to connect Android Debug Bridge (adb) via WiFi, turn on Wireless debugging. This requires an active WiFi connection.

14. Navigate back to Settings.

15. Click on Network & Internet.

16. Under Network, note the IP address. You’ll need it  to prepare the installation later.
    

17. Turn on and configure WiFi if needed.

Prepare the installation

On your Windows PC, perform the following steps:

1. Unzip the installation package.

2. Open a CMD terminal and change to the directory of the unzipped installation package.

3. Type the command: adb connect <your IP address>

4. Press enter to establish a connection.
   

5. If a Allow USB debugging dialog appears on the device, select Always allow from this computer and Allow.

6. Open the folder with the unpacked installation package.

7. Double-click on the file Install_gf_tools_on Iiyama.bat to install Grassfish components.

Note

The batch file also installs the TeamViewer Host and add-on. This is not Grassfish software. If you don’t want to install it, delete the lines from the installation file.

After installation, check the log to see if all installations and the device administrator setup were successful.

Configure Grassfish components on the device

To configure Grassfish components on the device, follow these steps:

1. On the home screen, click More.

2. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the app GF Device Owner and open it.
   

3. In the dialog that appears, click on Open settings.
   

4. Under All files access, turn on Allow access to manage all files.
   

5. Use the arrow at the top left to go back. The device automatically reboots and the payer starts with the Grant permissions dialog.

6. Click Open next to Grant external storage access.
   

7. Turn on Allow access to all files and go back.

8. Click Open next to Grant local permissions

9. Grant all 4 permissions for recording audio, taking pictures and video, accessing the device location, and making phone calls.

10. Click Open next to Grant alarms and reminder access.

11. Grant the permission for GF Player and Host if you use TeamViewer.
    

12. Click Open next to Grant do not disturb access.

13. In the Allow access to Do Not Disturb for GF Player dialog, click Allow.
    

14. Click Open next to Grant system settings write access.

15. Turn on Allow modifying system settings.

16. Click back.

The player automatically starts the InitBox. The installation and setup are now finished.

Connect player and server

Note

Before you begin the initialization, ensure that the player has been set up on the server and has a valid license in IXM One.

There are two ways to connect the player to the IXM Server:

• Use the generic provisioning service

• Use the classic InitBox

Initialize the player via generic provisioning

Note the following prerequisites:

• You need a PC to open the provisioning service website via: yourserver.xy/gv2/gf/provisioning/#/

• Note the TPID from the InitBox to connect to the server and load all pre-configured settings and content.

Initialize the player via the classic InitBox

To initialize the player using the InitBox, perform the following steps:

1. Click Start classic InitBox.

    

2. Select your screen orientation using the drop-down menu (1) or the arrows (2).

    

3. Click Save and continue.

4. On the Configure your system screen, configure your settings and configure a serial device if needed. For more information on the settings, click here.

5. Click Continue.

    

6. Enter your IXM Server URL and Box-ID. Optionally, use the pre-filled one.

7. If your server uses HTTP, Turn off Use HTTPS connection.

    

8. Click Initialize player.

The player may reboot and begin downloading content and settings from the IXM Server. Until the download is complete, the player displays the Grassfish logo as a placeholder.

Troubleshooting: Mute icon

When the volume is set to 0, the mute icon will appear on your device.

Currently, it is not possible to remove the icon from the device, but as a workaround, you can set the volume to 1.

To do so, follow these steps:

1. In IXM One, go to the player configuration or the configuration group:

   • For an individual player, go to Channels > Location. Double-click on your player and select Edit next to Configuration in the Edit player window.

   • For a configuration group, go to Administration > Player > Configuration groups and double-click on the configuration group.

2. In the Edit configuration group window, select Display extended modules.

3. Under Modules, select Common.

4. Set Device volume to 1.

5. Click Save to save your changes.
