Install Android Player on Sony Bravia VH22

This article explains how to install the Grassfish Android Player on a Sony Bravia VH22 device.
System requirements
Before you begin the installation, ensure that you meet the following system requirements:

Keyboard shortcuts
We recommend to use a Logitech K400 keyboard. If you do so, note the following keyboard shortcuts before you start the installation:
To go home, use the Home key or F2.
To go back, right-click with your mouse or press F1.
To navigate, use the arrow keys.
To open, press Enter.
Prepare the Sony device
To prepare the Sony device, perform the following steps:
On the Welcome screen, select your language and confirm with Enter.
On the Quickly set up your TV with you Android phone screen, click Skip.
If your device is connected via WiFi, click on your WiFi network.
Enter your WiFi password.
Use the arrows to navigate to the check mark and click Enter.
On the Google - Make the most of your TV screen, click Skip.
On the Google – Terms of Service screen, click Accept.
On the Google Services screen, click Accept.
Click > to navigate through the feature screens.
On the Start your BRAVIA experience screen, click Start.
On the BRAVIA Privacy Policy screen, scroll to the end and click Agree.
On the Power saving screen, select Off and click Enter.
On the Specify how your display is positioned screen, select Wall Mount and click Enter. This is the typical position for digital signage screens.
On the Apple AirPlay and HomeKit screen, click Next or Enter.
Click Complete or Enter to finish the setup.
Configure system settings
To configure required settings on your device, perform the following steps:
On the device, use the arrow keys to navigate to Settings.
Scroll down to System and click About.
Scroll down to Status and note down the IP address. You’ll need it later to connect to the device.
Scroll down and click Android TV OS build multiple times until “You are now a developer!” appears.
Click back to go back to the system settings.
Scroll down and select Developer options.
In the Developer options, enable ADB debugging.
Connect your PC
To connect your PC with the device, perform the following steps:
Open a CMD terminal on your Windows PC.
Change the directory to the unpacked installation package.
Enter the command adb connect followed by the IP address of your device.
In the Allow USB debugging dialog, select Always from this computer and click Allow.
Repeat the adb connect command on your PC. It should return: already connected to <IP address>
Disable Google Play Store updates
To disable Google Play Store updates on your device, perform the following steps:
On your device, click Apps.
Use the arrow keys to navigate to Google Play Store and click Enter.
Click on the settings icon.
In the settings, click Auto-update apps.
Use the arrow keys to navigate to Don’t auto-update apps and click Enter.
Use the back or Home key to return home.
Install Grassfish Player and tools
Note
By default, the installation includes Grassfish software components as well as the TeamViewer host and add-on. TeamViewer is not Grassfish software. If you don’t want to install it, delete the lines from the installation file.
To install the Grassfish Player and other tools, perform the following steps:
On your PC, open the folder that contains the installation package.
Double click on the file Install_gf_Tools_Sony_Bravia_VH22.bat.
The batch file also contains commands to change the required settings on the device.
Check the log to make sure that the installations and settings were successful and error-free.
Configure Grassfish components on the device
To configure Grassfish components on your device, perform the following steps:
On the Home screen, click Apps.
Use the arrow keys to navigate to the app GF Device Owner and open it with Enter.
In the Allow GF Device Owner to access photos, media and files on your device dialog, click Allow. The device reboots now.
In the subsequent Grant permissions dialog, click Open next to Grant local permissions.
In the Allow GF Player to access system information dialog, click on Allow.
In the Allow GF Player to take pictures and record video dialog, click Allow.
In the Allow GF Player to access this device’s location dialog, click Allow.
In the Allow GF Player to access photos, media an files on your device dialog, click Allow.
In the Allow GF Player to record audio dialog, click Allow.
Click Open next to Grant system settings write access.
Set Can modify system settings to Yes.
Click back.
The player automatically starts the InitBox. The installation and setup are now finished.
Connect player and IXM Server
Note
Before you begin the initialization, ensure that the player has been set up on the server and has a valid license in the IXM Platform.
There are two ways to connect the player to the IXM Server:
Use the generic provisioning service
Use the classic InitBox
Initialize the player via generic provisioning
Note the following prerequisites:
You need a PC to open the provisioning service website via: yourserver.xy/gv2/gf/provisioning/#/
Note the TPID from the InitBox to connect to the server and load all pre-configured settings and content.

Initialize the player via the classic InitBox
To initialize the player using the InitBox, perform the following steps:
Click Start classic InitBox.
Select your screen orientation using the drop-down menu (1) or the arrows (2).
Click Save and continue.
On the Configure your system screen, configure your settings and configure a serial device if needed. For more information on the settings, click here.
Click Continue.
Enter your IXM Server URL and Box-ID. Optionally, use the pre-filled one.
If your server uses HTTP, disable Use HTTPS connection.
Click Initialize player.
The player may reboot and begin downloading content and settings from the IXM Server. Until the download is complete, the player displays the Grassfish logo as a placeholder.
