The Grassfish Notification System (GNS) is an automated notification system that collects information about errors and warnings and saves them locally on the client. That is, the player.

InternetReceiver

This Grassfish service is responsible for the data transfer between the Grassfish Server and the player.

  • The server provides data and the player asks the server for updates in certain intervals.

  • The InternetReceiver also communicates a player's online or offline status to the Grassfish Server.

Overseer

This service monitors the player and the various modules and restarts them if necessary.

Player

The player is a key component of the Grassfish software.

  • It plays content in a sequence that has been calculated in the module PlaylistCalc.

  • The player contains various player applications for supported content formats.

PlaylistCalc

This service calculates the current playlist for the respective player based on the playlist data from the Grassfish Server and the player's settings.

ScreenController

This service controls the display that is connected to the player. It turns the display on and off according to the operating times set in IXM One.

Server

This service provides the PlayerControl and PlayerDetails web interfaces. It's also used to load content for HTML Composer and Wizard Spots.

Updater

The Updater gets the most current software versions for other modules from the Grassfish Server and updates them.

UpdateService

The UpdateService sends requests for new Updater versions to the Grassfish Server and updates the Updater if possible.

Note

The modules in the individual configuration groups can differ, because every configuration group is only applicable to one player type such as Windows, Linux, or Android.
