Note
Data importers must be enabled in your system and displaying the data may require spot templates. For more information, contact your Grassfish account manager.
Data importers allow you to import data from external sources into IXM One and display it on screens, embedded and configured in spots.
For example, you can import product and pricing data from your product database, weather forecasts and news for display in a public place, or calendar data for display in front of meeting rooms.
Data import process
Once data importers have been activated in your network, you can create and maintain them as required.
To create a new data importer, perform the following steps:
Go to Administration > Content > Data importer.
In the Data importer pane, click New.
In the Create data importer window, select a Data importer from the dropdown. The name, file type, and abbreviation of the data importer are added automatically.
Specify the following properties:
Designation
Specify the designation of the data source.
The designation appears in the player settings and spot settings.
Display name
Enter the data source name as you want it to appear in IXM One.
Permissions
To add or remove user permissions for the data importer, use the arrows
or drag-and-drop.Switch to the Feeds tab.
Select a Feed definition from the dropdown.
Click + and add your feed settings:
Path
Specify the URL or file path to the data that you want to import.
Example: https://rss.com/news.xml or \\storage.local\configs\data.json
User name
Enter the user name for the data source.
Password
Enter the password for the data source.
Execution time out
Specify the period after which the system cancels requesting data from the data source in seconds.
Default: 360
Execution time period
Select how often the data importer checks for data:
Daily: set a time using hours and minutes.
Continuous: set an interval using hours and minutes.
Weekly: set a weekday and time.
Monthly: set one day per month.
Manual: only import data manually.
Start download procedure after saving
Select to start the data download, as soon as you've saved your feed settings.
Click Save to save your data importer.
Edit data importers
To edit an existing data importer, perform the following steps:
Go to Administration > Content > Data importer.
In the Data importer pane, select the data importer that you want to edit and click Edit.
In the Edit data importer window, make your changes.
Click Save to save your changes.
Delete data importers
To delete a data importer, perform the following steps:
Go to Administration > Content > Data importer.
In the Data importer pane, select the data importer that you want to delete.
Click Delete.
In the subsequent dialog, confirm with Yes.
