Update the server

Prev Next

You can use the installer to update the server to the latest version. To do so, perform the following steps:

Note

Updating the server version doesn’t update the player versions.

Backup your system

Perform a complete backup of your system so that you can revert to a previous server state in the event of an error.

Prepare the installation

Before installing the latest server version, ensure that you stop all application pools and Windows services. Don’t forget to restart them after the installation.

Update the database

How you update the database depends on your IXM One version:

Version 12.0 or later

Note

You may encounter issues when using the database migrator with SQL Express. In this case, we recommend updating the database manually as in versions prior to 12.0.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure that the database server can access the backend server and that the master.config file is shared.

If that’s not possible, you can specify the connection string manually. For example:

.\DbMigrator.exe -c "Server=(local);Database=example;Integrated Security=true;TrustServerCertificate=True;"

❯ .\DbMigrator.exe --help
USAGE:
    DbMigrator.exe [OPTIONS]

OPTIONS:
    -h, --help                                     Prints help information
-c, --connection-string <CONNECTION_STRING>    The connection string to the database
    -m, --master-config <MASTER_CONFIG>            The master config file
-d, --directory <SCRIPT_DIRECTORY>             The directory containing the db scripts
--sqlcmd                                   The sqlcmd executable to use
        --unattended                               Run in unattended mode
