Work with tags

Prev Next

Tags help you control when and where your spots are played.

You can also use them to play spots based on live date such as weather forecasts.

Tag types

You can work with the following types of tags in IXM One:

Spot/Playlist tags

Use spot and playlist tags to ensure that users can only add spots to a specific playlist.

For example, assign tags for landscape and portrait format to spots and playlists to ensure they match.

Live tags

Use live tags to filter spots on a player based on data from (local) web services.

For example, use live tags to adjust the content display in your store to the current weather.

SOC tags

Use start-of-communication (SOC) tags to ensure that spot content remains invisible until a specified time.

This allows you to prepare and upload content without displaying it too early.

SOC tags must be activated in your system. For more information, contact your Grassfish account manager.

Sync tags

Use sync tags to synchronize spot playback across your players.

This means that the spots start at the same time.

Sync tags must be activated in your system. For more information, contact your Grassfish account manager.

How to use tags

In this example, you have a playlist with multiple tags that specify which spot format and target group it allows.

To populate this playlist, you need spots that don't conflict with the playlist's tags. The following spots are available in your network:

Spot A:

  • No tags.

  • You can use this spot in the playlist.

Spot B:

  • One matching tag. You can use this spot in the playlist.

  • The format tag of this spot corresponds to one of the playlist tags and there are no tags that negate them.

Spot C:

  • Different tag categories. You can use this spot in the playlist.

  • The spot and the playlist do not have common tags, but do not belong to the same tag category and therefore do not negate each other.

Spot D:

  • Different tags, same tag category.

  • You can't use this spot in the playlist.

  • The spot and the playlist have no tags in common, but at least one spot tag belongs to a tag category for which a tag has been defined in the playlist.
