Install Android Player on Philips BDL4650D

This article explains how to install the Grassfish Android Player on a Philips BDL4650D device.
System requirements
Before you begin the installation, ensure that you meet the following system requirements:

Keyboard shortcuts
We recommend to use a Logitech K400(+) keyboard. If you do so, note the following keyboard shortcuts before you start the installation:
To go home, use the Home key or F2.
To go back, right-click with your mouse or press F1.
Prepare the Philips device
To prepare the Philips device, perform the following steps:
On the Welcome screen, click Start to start the setup.
On the Time Zone screen, click on the timezone.
Select your desired timezone and click Next.
On the Clone Media Files into Internal screen, click Skip.
On the Signage Display Settings screen, click Skip.
On the Security Setting screen, enable ADB Over Network and Unknown Sources Installation.
Optionally, enable Admin Password if needed. Grassfish doesn’t require it.
Click Next.
On the Remote Control screen, select Disable.
Click Next.
On the Network Settings screen, select your desired network interface. If needed, you can always change it later in the settings.
Enable the network interface. If you use Wi-Fi, select the SSID and enter your Wi-Fi password.
On the Setup Complete screen, click Finish.
Optionally, click Install Wave if you want to use PPDS WAVE. Otherwise, click Skip.
Click Home.
Enter the admin password. This can be either your chosen password or the default password 1234.
Click OK.
Install Grassfish software and tools
Before you continue with the Grassfish software installation, you must find out the device’s IP address. To do so, perform the following steps:
On the Home screen, select Network.
Click on your connected network interface.
Note down the displayed IP address.
You can now connect your PC’s adb to the device. To do so, perform the following steps:
On your PC, open a CMD terminal and change the directory to the files of the unzipped installation package.
Enter adb connect and the device’s IP address. For example: adb connect 192.168.169.103
On the device, select Always allow from this computer and click Allow to allow connection.
To ensure that the adb connection hasn’t timed out, enter adb connect and the device’s IP address again on your PC. The response should be already connected to [IP address].
Double click on the file Install_gf_Tools-no-browser_Android_11_BDL4650.bat. This script performs the installation and sets the device owner.
Check if the installation has been successful and without errors in the cmd window.
Configure settings
To configure required settings on your device, perform the following steps:
On the Home screen, click Apps.
Open the app GF Device Owner.
In the subsequent dialog, click Allow.
To grant files access, select the following apps one after the other:
Host (recommended only if you use TeamViewer)
GF Player
GF Device Owner
For each app, enable Allow access to manage files.
Click back until you get to the Device Owner app. The system performs a reboot.
On the Grassfish Grant permissions page, click Open next to Grant local permissions.
In the Allow GF Player to take pictures and record video dialog, select While using the app.
In the Allow GF Player to access this device’s location dialog, select While using the app.
In the Allow GF Player to record audio dialog, select While using the app.
In the Allow GF Player to make and manage phone calls dialog, select Allow.
In the Allow GF Player to access photos and media on your device dialog, select Allow.
Click on Open next to Grant do not disturb access.
Under Do Not Disturb access, select GF Player.
Enable Allow Do Not Disturb.
In the subsequent dialog, click Allow.
Right-click to go back to the permission settings.
Click Open next to Grant system settings write access.
Under Modify system settings, enable Allow modifying system settings.
Right-click to go back to the permission settings.
Click Open next to Disable Screensaver.
Under Screen saver, select When to start.
Select Never.
Right-click twice to go back to the permission settings.
Click Open next to Disable Screensaver.
Disable Stay awake.
Right-click twice to leave the settings.
Once you’ve granted all required permissions, the installation is complete. The InitBox starts an you can initialize the player to connect it to the IXM Platform.
Connect player and IXM Platform
Note
Before you begin the initialization, ensure that the player has been set up on the server and has a valid license in the IXM Platform.
There are two ways to connect the player to the IXM Platform:
Use the generic provisioning service
Use the classic InitBox
Initialize the player via generic provisioning
Note the following prerequisites:
Generic provisioning requires IXM Platform version 11.15 or later.
You need a PC to open the provisioning service website via: yourserver.xy/gv2/gf/provisioning/#/
Note the TPID from the InitBox to connect to the server and load all pre-configured settings and content.

Initialize the player via the classic InitBox
To initialize the player using the InitBox, perform the following steps:
Click Start classic InitBox.
Select your screen orientation using the drop-down menu (1) or the arrows (2). Note that the Philips BDL460D series supports only landscape and portrait mode. For allowed mounting directions, refer to the Philips product manual.
Click Save and continue.
On the Configure your system screen, configure your settings and configure a serial device if needed. For more information on the settings, click here.
Click Continue.
Enter your IXM Server URL and Box-ID. Optionally, use the pre-filled one.
If your server uses HTTP, disable Use HTTPS connection.
Click Initialize player.
The player may reboot and begin downloading content and settings from the IXM Server. Until the download is complete, the player displays the Grassfish logo as a placeholder.
