Unlike other tags, you can set live tags in the following places:
Spot settings: Applies live tags to all instances of a spot, no matter which playlist it's used in.
Playlist-specific spot properties: Applies live tags only to the spot instance in the playlist. You can add or remove live tags in the playlist-specific spot settings independently of other tags.
How to use live tags
The following example illustrates how to use live tags to achieve your advertising goals.
Scenario
Let's assume the following scenario:
You have a screen in a shop window.
You wan the content display to adjust to the current weather, so that spots may pique the interest of passers-by.
Your player is connected to a system, which measures the outside temperature.
You also have spots for different types of weather: hot, cold, and mild.
Goal
You want the player to play the appropriate spot for the current weather:
Spots for hot weather are only played, if the outside temperature rises over a specified value.
Spots for cold weather are only played, if the outside temperature falls under a specified value.
Neutral spots are played at all times, independent of the weather.
Step-by-step
To enable this playback behavior using live tags, perform the following steps:
Create a tag group called Weather.
In the tag group, create the tags Hot and Cold.
Create a playlist with spots for different weather conditions and neutral spots for all weather conditions.
Hot: Assign to spots for hot weather.
Cold: Assign to spots for cold weather.
Don't assign any of the two tags to neutral spots, which are played independently of the current weather.
Ensure that your external system that measures the outside temperature is programmed to send the signals Hot and Cold depending on the specified temperature.
Note
When you first drag a spot into a playlist, all live tags are adopted by this spot instance.
You can then edit the playlist-specific live tags of this spot independently from the original spot.
Set player live tag exception
You can tell the player to play a spot even if no live tag of a live tag group is set on it.
This setting is available for each assigned live tag group.
To enable it, perform the following steps:
Go to Content > Playlist.
In the playlists pane, select the playlist.
In the Content of playlist pane, hover over a spot and click
Edit properties.Switch to Live tags.
Select Also play back if no live tag of the selected live tag group is set on the player for a live tag group you want to exclude.
Click Save to save your changes.
