Locations and categories determine which content is played on which display.

Note

Admins manage location permissions for other users.

Create a location

You can create locations and sublocations in IXM One and assign data sources and categories to them.

To create a new location, perform the following steps:

  1. In IXM One, go to Channels > Location.

  2. In the Location pane, select one of the following locations:

    • Select Locations, to create a location in the top level of the tree.

    • Select an existing location, to create a sublocation.

  3. Click on + New at the bottom of the pane.

  4. In the Create location window, enter the following general information:

    Name

Specify the name of the location. This entry is mandatory.

    Address and contact details

Optionally, specify country, city, postal code, address, email, and fax number.

Note that sublocations inherit general data from the primary location and it can't be modified. If you copy a location, the data is copied, but you can edit it.

    Holiday list

    Assign a holiday list.

    Permissions

To add or remove user permissions for the location, use the arrows or drag-and-drop.

  5. Switch to the Data sources tab, to manage data sources.

  6. Switch to the Categories tab.

  7. To assign categories to your location, drag and drop them from the Available pane to the Assigned pane. Note that sublocations and players assigned to the location inherit the selected categories.

  8. Click Save to save your changes.

Edit a location

To edit a location, perform the following steps:

  1. In IXM One, go to Channels > Location.

  2. In the Location pane, select the location that you want to edit.

  3. To edit the location, click on the   Edit icon at the bottom of the pane. Alternatively, double-click on the location.

  4. In the Edit location window, make your changes.

  5. Click Save to save your changes.

Copy a location

You can copy a location if you want to use it as a blueprint for a new location.

Note

  • Players that are assigned to the original location are not assigned to the copy.

  • A location can only be copied within the same hierarchy level as the original location.

To copy a location, perform the following steps:

  1. In IXM One, go to Channels > Location.

  2. In the Location pane, select the location that you want to copy.

  3. To copy the location, click on the   Copy icon.

  4. In the Copy location window, edit the copied data as required. For example, you can edit the name which now has the the suffix (Copy).

  5. Click Save to save your changes.

Delete a location

Note

You can't delete a location if:

  • The location has sublocations.

  • The location has players assigned to it. In this case, you must delete the players or use a workaround.

To delete a location, perform the following steps:

  1. In IXM One, go to Channels > Location.

  2. In the Location pane, select the location that you want to delete.

  3. To delete the location, click on the   Delete icon at the bottom of the pane.

  4. In the subsequent dialog, confirm with Yes.

Workaround

Use this workaround if you want to delete a location that has players assigned, without deleting the players.

Perform the following steps:

  1. Create a new location as a temporary storage for the players.

  2. Assign the players to this new location.

  3. Delete the location that you want to delete.

  4. Assign the players to another location and delete the temporary location, or leave them in the temporary location.

Note

If you move a player to another location, the categories inherited via the location are not maintained; only the categories of the current location are valid.
