# Manage playlist releases

The playlist approval process in IXM One ensures that authorized users can check a playlist before its publication, for example, someone from branch management.

> Note that at least one user group must have reading and writing rights for a playlist to release it.

## Release a playlist

If you have permission to release playlist versions, perform the following steps:

1. Go to **Content > Playlist**.
2. Select the playlist that you want to release.
3. 4. In the subsequent dialog, click **OK** to release the playlist version. Optionally, select **Send notification** to notify all user groups authorized to receive messages about this playlist.

## Request a playlist release

If you want to publish changes in a playlist version but you're not authorized to release it, you must request the release.

To do so, perform the following steps:

1. Go to **Content > Playlist**.
2. Select the playlist that you want to release.
3. The playlist status display changes to orange if a release is pending. Once an authorized user has released your playlist, the status display disappears and the playlist is transferred to the player.
